The Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine invites applications for a 100% clinical faculty position in the Department of Radiology. This position has a commitment to support, up to 50% in both departmental and enterprise-wide PACS and IT issues as the Assistant Chief Medical Information Officer for PACS/IT. The successful candidate may be appointed on either the clinical or tenure track, open rank.

For the Assistant CMIO duties, the successful candidate will report to the Chief Medical Information Officer and will integrate clinical skills and radiology work flows with computer and information sciences to manage and communicate imaging related content build, training, optimization, and integration across the University of Iowa Health Care’s IT applications and users.

The Radiology Department is filmless with an electronic medical record and PACS and includes 37 staff physicians, 13 fellows, 15 Ph.D. researchers, and 34 residents. The Department operates six clinical 16 to 128 MDCT scanners including a dual source 64. There are six clinical MR scanners including a 3T. Construction is underway for a PET/MR. The University of Iowa is the only NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center in the state and has a large number of very active clinical and research programs. The Department has a strong research record in imaging, and the Department is responsible for the multidisciplinary Iowa Institute for Biomedical Imaging.

The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics is a beautiful, state-of-the-art 900 bed tertiary care center. The UIHC was an early adopter of EPIC and has a robust IT backbone. UIHC is a HIMSS level 7 certified in both inpatient and outpatient as well as a 2014 HIMSS Enterprise Davies Award Recipient. Iowa City, Iowa, is a beautiful “Big 10” community. Candidates for tenure track appointments must have a history of funded research. Research start-up funds and protected time to pursue academic interests are available.

Fellowship training in body imaging radiology is preferred but not essential.

Leadership experience in process improvement and PACS/IT administration is highly desirable.

A research interest and experience in clinical and translational research informatics, imaging informatics, data mining, and/or predictive analytics is highly desirable.
