Percutaneous vertebroplasty is a nonsurgical, outpatient approach to address the pain of osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures by percutaneously injecting methyl methacrylate into a fractured vertebra under imaging guidance [1]. The goal is to decrease pain in patients not adequately treated with conventional pain management regimens, inhibit further fracture, and prevent further height loss [1,2].
