Jenny Hoang’s Speaking of Language piece titled “Insignificant Findings: Don’t Leave Them Questioning the Significance” [1] is quite on target and very sensible. I would raise one minor issue, however: completing the sentence by stating “A few white matter lesions in the left frontal lobe area are of no clinical importance and most likely represent remnants of previous trauma or infection” is itself somewhat problematic. A patient who reads this report may well say to himself or herself, “I’ve never had any head trauma, and I’ve never had any head or brain infection,” in which case the patient may well become more concerned, excited, and worried than ever.
