Interruptions to clinician workflow have been recognized as a major source of frustration to clinicians and a major threat to patient safety [1]. Supported by a body of literature in human factors, interruptions have been shown to increase the likelihood of error and can be detrimental in high-risk environments such as health care [2,3]. However, the study of interruptions in radiology is in its infancy. Only a handful of studies, focused on the impact of interruptions to on-call radiologists and residents, have been conducted [4-7].
